Stories do matter. Many stories matter. We chose this theme as a gentle reminder that stories are the foundation of library work, especially when held by everyone involved. Stories will reflect themselves in our approach to our work,our care for the collection, our harvesting of stories in many forms and our interactions with our community in the sharing of stories as we come together.
In this first issue of Bookworms Beyond Borders, we are delighted to bring a range of articles and activities that keep the story at the center.
In a world dominated by distance and mere technological connections, we are committed to the story as a single and most powerful act of our human experience. Rebecca Solnit, a writer who defends democracy writes, “Stories surround us like air; we breathe them in, we breathe them out. The art of being fully conscious in personal life means seeing the stories and becoming their teller, rather than letting them be the unseen forces that tell you what to do. ” We hope in the diverse sharing that this newsletter attempts, we give voice to the stories beneath the stories and around the stories remembering that many stories matter.

आज कल के तकनीकी संपर्क और फासलों की इस दुनिया में, हम केवल कहानियों को मानवीय अनुभव का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण और एक मजबूत माध्यम की तरह देखते हैं| रेबेका सोल्निट (एक लेखक जो लोकतंत्र का बचाव करती हैं) लिखती हैं कि , “कहानियाँ हमारे लिए हवा की तरह हैं, इन्हें ही हम सांस की तरह अन्दर लेते हैं और बाहर निकालतें हैं| व्यक्तिगत जीवन में पूरी तरह से सचेत रहने की कला का अर्थ है कहानियों को देखना और उनको सबको सुनाना, बजाय इसके कि कहानी अनदेखी शक्तियाँ की तरह हो जाएँ जो की हमें बताएं कि आगे क्या करना है|”`
हम उम्मीद करते हैं कि इस विविध समाचार पत्र के साझाकरण से हम एक कहानी से दूसरी कहानी, कहानियों के भीतर, कहानियों के आगे, इन सब कहानियों को एक आवाज़ दे पाएंगें यह जानते हुए की कहानियाँ मायने रखती हैं |
